Braizahn Jones founded Umami Bass in 2025, an international double bass workshop series and performance initiative focused on holistic pedagogy and community building, with programs hosted in Japan and the United States.

Jones serves as Assistant Principal Bass of the Oregon Symphony and is a dedicated educator serving on faculty at Portland State University and Reed College. A graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Hal Robinson and Edgar Meyer, Jones has performed often with The Philadelphia Orchestra, The Seattle Symphony, and has appeared regularly at music festivals including Chamber Music Northwest and several others.
